Those interested in Asheville’s history may recognize his name as the architect of Asheville’s Romanesque City Hall of the ’s, however, Wills also designed several schools, churches, and residences. Many of his residences survive today and contribute to Asheville’s historic districts and picturesque neighborhoods.
Arthur John Wills was born on August 14, in Langport, a small town and civil parish in Somerset County, England, to James William U. Wills, and his wife Louisa.
