I was born in Coaldale, Alberta, in 1934, the youngest child of Abraham and Helena (Janz) Toews. My parents emigrated from Ukraine in 1926 and after a short stay in Winnipeg, Manitoba, purchased an irrigation farm in the Coaldale district together with other relatives.
