  • Boy, 14, found murdered in Mississauga park

    A 14-year-old boy was found murdered in a park in Mississauga early Friday morning.

    His body was found on a path leading into Meadow Park, which is located on Truscott Drive in the area of Queen Elizabeth Way and Southdown Road, just before 8 a.m. on Friday.

    The park is located behind an elementary school, but police say there is no connection to the school.

    Const. Danny Marttini said a cause of death hasn’t yet been determined, but confirmed that the boy was found with “visible signs of trauma.”

    “We don’t have any suspect description at this time,” she added.

    Marttini said family of the victim is aware of the situation, but his identity has not been released.

    CityNews has confirmed the young teen’s name is Riley Martin and that he is a student at Clarkson Secondary School, which is approximately 2 km from where the body was found Friday morning. The school has yet to confirm Martin is a student, citing the “ongoing police investigation.”

    “We do believe this to be an isolated incident,” she said. “He’s believed to have left his residence in the evening of last night, late evening. I don’t know if he was in the company of anybody.”
