Steven Boyd Gasner
Steven Boyd Gasner, age 70, of Chatfield died at Mayo Clinic-St. Mary's Campus on October 10, 2024 with his family by his side.
Steven was born on June 22, 1954 in Lakefield, MN the son of Boyd and Kathryn (Spitzack) Gasner. He moved to Chatfield as a young boy and attended Chatfield schools. He was a 1972 graduate of Chatfield High School. He attended classes at the Rochester Technical College following graduation. As a child he was a member of the local 4-H group and greatly enjoyed raising fantail pigeons, rabbits, and cows. Steven married Cheryl White on June 23, 1973 at Rochester Methodist Church. The couple lived on his parent's farm until moving to their current residence in Fillmore County. Steven farmed with his dad until June of 2003, when a motorcycle accident forced him into retirement. He was determined to walk out of the hospital after months of rehabilitation and reached that goal. Later he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. His physical challenges didn't keep him down. His family was at the center of his heart and he loved to spend time with them. He was a very social person who could make friends wherever he went. As an accomplished historian the irony would not be lost on Paul Naughton that the day that he came into the world was the thirteenth anniversary of the day that America was thrust into World War II and the day that he left was the fifty-fifth anniversary of when his mother's most beloved president was assassinated in Dallas. It was also Thanksgiving.
For a very quiet guy he made the dates of his entrance and his exit quite memorable. The Irish good-bye came after a short period of declining health when Paul A. Naughton, a lifelong resident of Waltham, died Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. He was 63.
He will long be remembered as a devoted friend, a patron of the arts, a thoughtful, kind and generous man and loyal to a fault. He was possessed of an inquisitive mind and a strong sense of duty.
Paul was born in Waltham, along with his twin brother, Dennis, on December 7, 1954 to the late Edward O. 'Ozzie' and Mary M. (Mulcahy) Naughton. He grew up with his large family in Chesterbrook Gardens and after graduating from Waltham High School in 1972 he went on to Massachusetts College of Art where he earned his bachelor's degree.
